How to Write a Blogger Resume
Introduction
Landing that perfect blogging job means showing off your writing chops before they even read your first post. Resume Structure and Format
Keep your blogger resume clean and scannable – just like your blog posts. Recruiters spend about 7.4 seconds on a resume (not a made-up round number – that's from actual eye-tracking studies!). Make those seconds count.
- Stick to 1-2 pages max – one page is perfect for most bloggers with under 5 years of experience
- Use plenty of white space and readable fonts (11-12pt size)
- Include clear section headers that stand out
- For layout, choose reverse chronological format unless you're switching careers
- Skip the fancy graphics – they often confuse ATS systems
Profile/Summary Section
Your professional summary should read like the killer intro paragraph of your best blog post. Grab attention, establish your voice, and make them want to read more.
Pro tip: Write your summary last! It's much easier to summarize once you've laid out all your accomplishments in the experience section.
Include your niche/specialty, years of experience, biggest accomplishment, and what makes you different from other bloggers. For example: "Lifestyle blogger with 4+ years creating content that converts. Grew organic traffic from 0 to 87K monthly visitors for TheNeighborhoodNest.com through SEO-optimized content that increased affiliate revenue by $3,750/month."
Professional Experience
This is where most bloggers mess up – they list job duties instead of results. Nobody cares that you "wrote blog posts" (duh). They care about what those posts accomplished.
- Lead with metrics: traffic growth, engagement rates, conversion percentages, revenue generated
- Highlight specific content campaigns that moved the needle
- Mention collaboration with other teams (design, marketing, SEO)
- Include content management systems you've mastered
- Showcase your editorial process (research, planning, production schedule)
For freelance work, group similar clients together under one "position" like "Freelance Tech Blogger" rather than listing each small gig separately.
Education and Certifications
Formal education matters less in blogging than in some fields, but don't skip this section. Include relevant coursework, workshops, or certifications that boost your credibility.
